Hélène Franchineau is a visual journalist, photographer and consultant covering Turkey, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa, based in Istanbul. She films and produces news videos and shorts docs, as well as visual campaigns for NGOs and other international organisations.
She holds a permanent Turkish press card and a press card from the International Federation of Journalists.
Hélène was previously a video journalist for The Associated Press based in Beijing. She spent a total of 7 years in China and Hong Kong. She can speak, read and write English/French/Mandarin and is currently learning Turkish and Arabic.
Her work has been published by The New York Times, AP, BBC, Arte, South China Morning Post, Le Monde, Euronews and PRI.
HEAT training (hostile environment awareness training) completed in September 2019.
